Polyester, polyamide with or without elastane
Target audience: Purchasing, product developers, designers, sales, merchandisers, technicians and quality assurance of clothing retail and textile machine manufacturers or importers.
The seminar is aimed at people with little prior knowledge of textiles who make decisions regarding the procurement, development or sale of clothing, or who work in sectors such as the manufacture of textile machines or fibre production for clothing.
The seminar helps to explain the extent to which polyester and polyamide play a significant role in clothing and highlights the growing importance of elastane.
The challenges of sustainability will be discussed in order to address the changing demands of consumers.
An understanding of textile manufacturing processes and their influence on product properties expands the possibilities in design and end-use. All participants will work on analysing fabrics and creating end-use requirement profiles.
The seminar does not cover the manufacture of woven and knitted fabrics. A separate seminar, 'Technology and construction techniques for knitwear', is offered for this purpose. Finishing and the cutting and sewing of garments are also not included.
Content:
– Chemical structure, composition and manufacturing processes
– Basic knowledge of mechanical processing from fibre to yarn and the properties imparted by these processes
– Development of end-use requirements in the typical clothing categories such as lingerie, swimwear, hosiery, sportswear and compression garments
– Drafting of possible claims for clothing labels and POS
– Analysis of clothing fabrics with regard to fibres, textile processes and quality
